Snowdonia

Snowdonia became the first National Park In Wales in 1951. It is the largest of Wales’ three national Parks and covers an area of 823 square miles. It was given its special status due to its outstanding beauty, unique culture and rich wildlife.

Snowdonia contains landscapes of international importance, its mountain cliffs and protected ledges support rare and exquisite arctic alpine plant communities.

This ancient land has been formed by volcanic episodes.Continental movements have built the mountains, ice has sculpted the high cwms and valleys and human activity has contributed a significant part in how the mountains look today.
